about

Somewhat tongue and cheek, I wrote this song while working with my friends and colleagues, singers Diana Lawrence and Amanda Crumley. We were doing a gig together at Marytr’s in Chicago. I wrote this song because of the diva that’s in every singer. Wanting to be loved. Needing attention. So absurd, yet so true.

lyrics

She looks around,
Sees the faces,
Saving graces in the light.

Mics are on,
Drinks flow freely,
Time to see her, no stage fright.

Tuesday night,
Feels alright,
What a sight,

She's the belle of the ball.
Loves no one but she loves them all
She's the belle of the ball.

People gather around,
She looks outrageous,
Acts contagious,
And sings her song.

She's not French,
or a southern lady,
but makes Scarlett O'Hara proud.

Despite her faults,
We were invited,
She was delighted,

She's the belle of the ball.
